A Little Bit About Myself

Hi! My name is Jessica. Thanks for checking out my blog. I am a mother, a wanna be blogger, coffee addict, and lover of fashion from Turlock, CA. Also I looove Paris! Since I was five years old I have wanted to put together my own outfits. My love for fashion has never ended.

I am blessed with four beautiful children. Zoe Abrielle 12, Isaac "Elijah"10, Ava Giselle 8, and Amelie (after the French film) Bella 6.

I am the second of five children. My brother Jesse is the oldest, then its me, my sister Jacqueline, Joshua, and last my baby brother Joseph. Yes our parents liked the letter "J"!

My sister is my best friend, but unfortunately she lives thousands of miles away in England!
We talk every single day, thanks to technology. I was very blessed to visit her in 2011 and can't wait to visit her again soon!

I started Ma Simple Vie as a creative outlet and a way to share with people the things that I love. My inspiration comes from all over the place. I don't really have a signature style. I love anything from Audrey Hepburn to Giovanna Battaglia. I love anything chic, classy, and simple, but sometimes I love something modern and ecclectic.

Hope that all of you enjoy my blog and bare with me, because I am still trying to figure this blogging stuff!

A Classic Wardrobe

Hello there! Sorry it took me so long to finally post something. Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! With that said, I would like to share with you how to start the year off right by building the perfect wardrobe. Here are most of the items that you will need to get started!
A Classic Wardrobe
  • trench coat
  • skinny jeans
  • black pencil skirt
  • black dress
  • grey/white tee
  • cardigan
  • black and white striped tee shirt
  • stylish flats
  • classic pumps
  • tall black or brown boots
  • ankle booties
  • chambray shirt
  • blazer
  • patterned top
  • black skinny pants or leggings
  • white button up shirt
  • wrap dress
All these pieces are basic, timeless and effortless. They are also most importantly very versatile! With just these pieces you can create many outfits. It's all about mixing and matching. You practically can't go wrong mixing up any of these pieces together. No matter what you put together, it will always look effortless and chic, think Audrey Hepburn.
To add your own personal touch add accessories. Try some fabulous earrings, a bracelet, a fun colorful handbag, or a scarf. Have fun with a bright lipstick or nail polish! Also adding one trendy item to these looks will always keep you looking chic.
Here are some links to help you get started:

I  have this coat I absolutely love it! I can wear it to the office and also dress it down on the weekend with jeans and ankle boots!
I bought this dress at Old Navy after Christmas and paid only 97 cents for it! Yes you read that right! I scored big time!

Its Thrifted

I just love when someone compliments my outfit and asks me where I got it from and I respond with, " I got it at a thrift store and it only cost me $3!" No better feeling than finding a Banana Republic sweater for only $3! Friends always ask me for advice on thrift shopping. In this post I will share some tips on successful thrift shopping. Good luck and thrift on!

Be Selective
Don't buy stuff just because it's cheap. You will find yourself with a bunch of junk you will never end up wearing. Ask yourself if you are really going to wear it and how you will style it. I like to quickly think of ways I can style an item to see if it's realistic. See it as an investment to your wardrobe.

Inspect
Make sure you inspect items closely for any tears, stains, missing buttons, broken zippers, etc. If a piece of clothing requires to much work to fix don't bother buying it. Chances are it will be in your closet forgotten about. Most thrift stores are final sale, so be sure to find out what return policy is. Be patient and make sure you have had some food and coffee before heading out. Thrift shopping can be very time consuming.

Go Often
Go to your local thrift stores often and early. Find out what days they stock the store for new items. The more often you go the more likely you will score on great items. Hurry before anyone beats you to it!

Just Grab It
When you find an item you like, grab it and throw it in your cart. Later when you go to try everything on you can inspect it. I find that when I try things on I notice things I didn't notice while it was on the hanger. If you find something that doesn't quite fit, but is good quality and in good condition, take it! You can have items tailored and hemmed.

Quality Over Quantity
Look for name brands and know what the item originally retails for. If there is an unfamiliar brand I always like to google it. Sometimes I find that it is a really high-end brand. Major score!
